BCN009
is a revolutionary new filter media designs with
a specific surface area of
963m2/m3 and
a near neutral buoyancy which makes it ideal for moving bed (fluidised
bed) biological filtration. The moving bed principle uses air, water
or other driving mechanism to provide a constant movement of the
media within a tank. This has several advantages over conventional
submerged filters, the main one being that the filter media is self
cleaning; as the particles of media knock against each other and
excess biofilm is scraped off into the water. The other main
advantage of the moving bed process is that it provides superb
mixing, eliminating any channeling and loss of performance that can
be a problem in submerged filters
When used as a static bed filter, the media is
excellent at trapping fine solids and can be cleaned with only a minimal
amount of disturbance by a small airlift.
